About

What is 313?
313 is the area code for Detroit, and serves as a marker of where our hearts are: in the city. The 313 group is made up of people who recognize God’s admonishment for justice and compassion, and who respond through service to the communities of Detroit and in our own small group community that considers the many challenging issues around social justice in our personal lives.

We are a diverse group of people of all different ages, ethnicities, genders, and educational backgrounds. We aim to take our groups’ strengths and use them to creatively and dilligently serve the residents of Central Detroit.

In the City
On Saturday mornings, twice a month, we work in Detroit as a function of our partner organization, Central Detroit Christian Community Development Corporation (hyperlink to www.detcdc.org) in their community projects. CDC plans and coordinates our projects in the community which have included neighborhood clean-up, home repairs and cleaning, helping CDC at their headquarters, and relationship building along the way.

We are currently holding our own academic enrichment class for some neighborhood kids in Grades 1-8 with the goal of helping these youth advance academically, while we mentor them and build relationships with them and their families.
